  Does Arenal Volcano lava can be seen from Los Lagos Hotel?  
Yes it does, although not in a continuous way, but each time occurs, with suitable weather and without solar light, an strombolian eruption (spectacular explosion that throws up red-hot lava, so named after Italian Stromboli volcano's activity), which is an unpredictable and surprising event that manifests for about one minute: starting at the expulsion of red-hot lava from the crater, its elevation through the air, then it reaches some top height and starts to descend, and lastly drops and roll-down over volcano flanks. Arenal Volcano produces at this time about 10 strombolian eruptions per day, but only the nocturnal ones allows to see the red-hot radiance of volcanic rocks. If you take the time to pay attention to volcano at clear nights, which is worth the effort, surely you'll have the chance to witness some of these events, and if you prepare properly you can even photograph it.

  Why Arenal Volcano is almost forever cloud covered (practically invisible)?  
This is a wrong stated question, that results from the incomplete perception of the daily evaporation and cloud formation cycle of tropical rainforest; since volcano is covered at human high activity hours, because in fact at those hours the heat from solar light had produced the condensation into clouds of the strong evaporating moisture. Actually the volcano is almost ever so visible, clear and spectacular at dawn, precisely because at that time there are light but the environment has not received yet enough solar heat, evaporation scarcely starts and there are too few condensation in the form of low clouds.

  It is possible to get Arenal Volcano clear?  
"Early risers get God's help", ... and get Arenal Volcano spectacular clear view at dawn. This is a reality that is almost always true, from 4-5am to 8-9am. Sometimes dawns partially cloudy and sometimes even totally, but the above-mentioned is the most usual.
Beyond the dawn, there is sometimes clear weather (lack of low clouds) for more time or at another hours through the day, even with blue sky, but those are less regulated conditions.

  It is possible to know when weather could get clear?  
Yes, that is the case of most dawns, as explained above. Also, this is very likely after intensely opposite conditions. By example, after a strong rain, even with lightning, the Arenal volcano environment get clears. Or after a several rainy days period we can get several clear days.
